Statoil - 10" Flexible Riser

In June 2017, Control Cutter was qualified by Statoil to perform the cutting of various types of subsea flowlines and pipelines. On September 6th, cuts were carried out on a 10” flowline at Troll B.

All cuts were successfully completed in less than 5 minutes, a key factor in minimizing vessel time.

There are also some additional benefits relating to the SubseaCutter as it is not affected by internal forces in the flowline and potential twisting of the product when it is being cut. As the SubseaCutter is able to correct itself during cutting, any twisting or movement is product is irrelevant.

The SubseaCutter is able to cut over 100 cuts on the same run, thus avoiding unnecessary return to the vessel to change cutting blade as is required by conventional technologies.
