Meet the Team: Scott Eke, UK Operations Manager

Scott Eke, UK Operations Manager at Control Cutter, has been a driving force behind the company’s operations since joining in August 2021. With nearly three decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, Scott brings both a wealth of knowledge and a passion for innovation to his role.

A Passion for People and Progress

At 46 years old, Scott has dedicated 28 years to the oil and gas sector, developing a deep passion for the industry and its ability to bring people together. He’s known for his infectious enthusiasm and his commitment to making a difference wherever he can. Outside of work, Scott’s love for cooking, food, and entertaining speaks to his attention to detail and care for those around him. He admits, with a touch of humour, that he sometimes “cares too much” but attributes this to his drive to support and improve both his team and clients.

Why Control Cutter?

When Scott first heard about Control Cutter’s innovative technology through a client, he was immediately intrigued. Impressed by the company’s equipment capabilities, Scott did his research and was drawn not just to the technology, but to the supportive, family-like culture within the organisation. For Scott, the opportunity to work with a company that values collaboration and mutual support was too good to pass up.

“I was completely blown away by the capabilities of the Control Cutter equipment,” Scott explains. “The technology is shaping the future, and I wanted to be part of that.”

A Day in the Life of Scott Eke

Scott’s role at Control Cutter is fast-paced and multi-faceted. From reviewing daily schedules to holding operational and client meetings, his day is filled with a variety of tasks. He takes time each day to support the teams in the UK, Norway, and the USA, and ensures everything is running smoothly, from daily logs to offshore team check-ins. As the manager of the UK facility, there is always something to do!

What Makes Control Cutter Special?

For Scott, it’s the sense of community that makes Control Cutter stand out. While the company operates internationally, Scott describes it as a “family” where employees truly care about each other. This support extends beyond teamwork—it’s an environment where successes are celebrated, and challenges are faced together.

“The people at Control Cutter are what make it special. It’s a very warm, family-like atmosphere. It’s not just about the work; it’s about supporting each other.” he says.

Shaping the Future of the Industry

Looking ahead, Scott sees sustainability as the most significant trend shaping the future of the industry.

“Sustainability is going to continue to play a major role and Control Cutter’s technology will be at the forefront of these changes, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient future.”

Outside of Work: A Love for the Outdoors and Cooking

When he’s not managing operations, Scott enjoys spending time outdoors. Whether it’s a long walk in nature or cooking up a storm in the kitchen, he values the simple pleasures of life. As a self-proclaimed “food snob,” Scott loves to create culinary masterpieces and indulge in great food, often entertaining friends and family.

Advice for Aspiring Operations Managers

Scott’s advice for those starting in an operations role? Build strong relationships, be transparent with clients and suppliers, and stay on top of regulations. He also stresses the importance of communication and being prepared for the inevitable ups and downs.

“Always communicate confidently, calmly, and effectively,” he advises. “And be prepared for long hours but enjoy the rewarding outcomes.”

A Memorable Moment at Control Cutter

Scott has had many proud moments at Control Cutter, noting that it’s not just one specific moment he can pinpoint – rather, it’s each time the team sends out equipment, which reminds him of the positive impact Control Cutter is having on its clients and the industry.

“It may sound cheesy, but I feel incredibly proud every time we mobilise equipment to a client. It’s a clear sign we’ve done something right and that we’re making a difference.”

An Integral Member of the Team
