Aron Broek, Group Financial Controller, has been an integral part of the Control Cutter team since August 2021. With Dutch-Indonesian heritage and based in Norway, Aron combines his expertise in business, finance, and technology to play a key role in the company’s growth and success.

From Entrepreneurial Beginnings to Financial Leadership

Aron’s journey into finance and technology started at a young age. At just 7 years old, he began his first business venture by picking flowers from his neighbour’s garden and selling them back to them! His passion for business only grew from there, leading him to pursue a Certificate of Apprenticeship in Computer Electronics and a BSc in International Management. This blend of technical and business education has given Aron a unique perspective on financial operations.

Why Control Cutter?

When asked what drew him to Control Cutter, Aron highlights the company’s growth potential and its cutting-edge technology.

“Since Control Cutter was still relatively small when I joined, I saw a chance to be a part of its evolution and influence my own career path. The company’s technological innovation was impressive, and the opportunity to contribute to that while growing professionally was an exciting prospect,”

A Day in the Life at Control Cutter

Aron’s role as Group Financial Controller is anything but routine. His day-to-day responsibilities span across accounting, financial planning & analysis, and supporting the sales team. Beyond finance, he also oversees IT and marketing functions. Aron says,

“My work is incredibly dynamic. Every day presents a new challenge, which keeps me engaged and constantly learning.”

One of the things Aron enjoys most about working at Control Cutter is the culture.

“Despite being an international company with offices in the UK and the US, it feels like we’re one close-knit family. we’ve built a culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and, of course, facing challenges head-on together.”

As someone who keeps a close eye on industry trends, Aron sees sustainability as a key factor in shaping the future of the industry.

“Sustainable solutions will play an increasingly important role. I also believe that automation and AI integration will revolutionise how we operate in the long term.”

Life Outside of Work

Outside of his professional life, Aron is a true sports enthusiast. As a Dutch native, he’s passionate about Dutch football and is an avid follower of Max Verstappen’s racing career.

“I enjoy all types of sports, especially when the Dutch teams are winning!”

He also loves to travel, particularly with his wife, exploring different cultures across the globe.

“Traveling is the best way to learn and understand the world. My goal is to visit every country before I die.”

Aron’s advice for those starting in his role?

“Embrace the challenges, especially those that seem daunting at first. Patience is key, and staying up-to-date with technology is essential. Our environment evolves so quickly, and keeping up with the latest tools is crucial to remaining relevant.”

A Memorable Moment at Control Cutter

Aron’s proudest achievement at Control Cutter was overseeing the successful implementation of the company’s ERP system. “It was a massive project that required a lot of hard work, but seeing it come together and function seamlessly was incredibly rewarding,” he reflects.
